Interior view of the Sheikh Lutfallah Mosque, Naqshe Jahan Square, Isfahan. The mosque was the private prayer space of the Shah. Whereas most public mosques (including the Friday Mosque that sits opposite the Sheikh Lutfallah Mosque in Naqshe Jahan Square) are quite large and have adjacent minarets for the call to prayer, this royal mosque is small and unassuming from the outside and without even one minaret. Its interior beauty was saved only for the eyes of the Shah.
